KNARESBOROUGH

Knaresborough (you don't pronounce the "K")is a beautiful riverside community about three miles from Harrogate. This picturesque village is situated on the river Nid and has retained lots of its "old world" charm. The view of the Viaduct has got to be one of the most photographed places in England.

The Viaduct over the river Nid In this picture of the Viaduct you can see a train going across the bridge. The white building by the riverside is where we always eat lunch when we visit Knaresborough.
The boats are neatly lined up - just waiting to take someone on a trip down the river. A perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon. boats by the riverside

The Castle, although mostly in ruins, is still an interesting place to visit. There are Guides available to take you on a tour. They also entertain visitors with a detailed description of the Castle's interesting history.

cherry trees by the river When the Cherry trees are in bloom it is a beautiful sight to see. My sister, Irene, took this photo.
Knaresborough market is open every Wednesday. It is held in the middle of town in the square and there you can buy just about everything.
I had to include a photo of this unusual house
on the hill.Knaresborough is a fascinating mix
of old and new buildings.
