Gone Metric

The powers that be have changed our lives,
The tables learnt at school
Are not one bit of use to us
They've broken every rule.

Twelve inches now don't make a foot
I really have to laugh
For when I buy a pair of shoes
I'm forty and a half.

Our Fahrenheit is Centigrade
My brains a confused state
Remembering 20.30 hours
Instead of half past eight.

My recipes weigh out in grammes,
And liquids are in litres,
And if I want to make a dress
I buy the cloth in metres.

But this, the weirdest change of all,
I really cannot trust,
Instead of medium 38
I'M NINETY SEVEN BUST "
